2013 PFUFA Reunion Itinerary

August 1-5, 2013

Weekend in Review:

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came to Canton this summer to make our annual P.F.U.F.A. reunion the best yet! This year we welcomed back some familiar faces with Brad Carter “Cannonball” (class of 2004), Keith Kunzig “Big Nasty” (class of 2001), Tim Young “The Captain” (Class of 2003) and Andre Rheault “Frenchy” (class of 2002 from Dallas, who made his First trip to Canton)!

We also said goodbye to some family members. We honored Josh Dillman and Harry Trout with a moment of silence at the start of the business meeting. Josh was always a shining light at the annual reunion, taken from us far too soon. Harry Trout, who was battling health issues to make one last trip to Canton, only to leave us a week prior to our reunion. We continue to pray for them both.

We gave our very own “Hogettes” a proper send off into retirement. The P.F.U.F.A. “Hams” made a one-time only appearance to honor the Hogettes in their own unique way. Mikey T., Howiette, Danoette were on hand to enjoy the performance. We weren’t done with the Washington swine yet, as the P.F.U.F.A. Board of Directors unveiled the new “Golden Hog Award”.  In honor of the Hogettes spirit of giving, the award is given to the member that did the most for charity that year. We presented one to the Hogettes, for which it was named. The 2013 winner was Burnt River Bob Hostutler.

2013 marked the return to the J. Babe Stern Center for our Saturday party where we were greeted by a line of kids flowing out the door and around the building. We loaded the kids up with tons of school supplies, prizes that included a pair of bikes donated by all the Ultimate Buffalo Bill’s fans and an X-Box 360 that was donated by Ram Man and Tagalong Toni. King Ram rocked the crowd with a wide variety of tunes and the kids enjoyed lunch prepared by the Burnt River Browns Backers. This year was also the first year for the P.F.U.F.A. to attend the annual Ribs Burnoff Event at the Stark County fairgrounds where we met our new float sponsor- the Akron Auto Auction- and reached thousands of fans we have never seen before!

Another unique event was when we all had the priveledge to witness a marriage proposal!! Dave Ricci, on bended knee, proposed to our very own Cindy Pierce (Purple Dame)!! It was an awesome surprise to all, but especially to a tearful Cindy!!

Finally we introduced the P.F.U.F.A. class of 2013 at our awards breakfast at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Sunday morning. This year’s class: Cheryl Stewart (Spent) Tampa Bay, Chris Neace (AceRaison) Cincinnati, Cindi Dammann (Bears XO) Chicago, David Glenn (Bullhorn) Houston, Gregg Huggins (Capt. Buffalo) Buffalo, Jamie Phillips (Steeler Girl) Pittsburgh, James “Jimbo” Sabado (Cowbell Dude) Seattle, Judy Ballenger (Jungle Judy) Cincinnati, Justin Hostutler (J the Historian) Cleveland, Ken Castaneda (Bronco Ken) Denver, Laura Stockler (Hawkychick) Seattle, Lena Duda (Honeybear) Chicago, Manuel Moreno (Suspect) St. Louis, Pablo Navarro (Toozak) Oakland, Rafael Alverez (Bolt pride) San Diego, Randy Earick (Hat Guy) Arizona, Richard Zolnowski (Wagonmaster) Buffalo, Rick Steele (Cheese Wedge) Green Bay, Ronnie Arnaud Dallas, Vanessa Payne (Purple Payne) Baltimore and Wayne Sargent (the Ultimate Packer Fan) Green Bay. We also honored Mike and John Trupiano from Tailgate 32 with “honorary” coins for the work they did to support the P.F.U.F.A. and our mission statement.

I want to again thank all of our members, their spouses and families, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Tim and the J. Babe Stern Center, The Comfort Inn and the City of Canton for making our reunion an unforgettable event. We are already hard at work on next year’s reunion (#16!) to make it even better!
