Chapter Two

"Floozies and FANatical"

In August 2002, Monte stepped down as president, and Jerry Vecchia (True Blue) [Class of 1999] was elected the 2nd President of PFUFA.  He served for three years (2002 to 2005).  His Officers were:

Vice President - Larry Primeau (Packalope) [Class of 1999]

Treasurer -         Ron Rickard (Raider Ron) [Class of 2001]

Secretary -         Jeff Pintea (Pantherman) [Class of 1999]

In 2002 and due to scheduling conflicts, PFUFA had to move from its home at the Comfort Inn to the Holiday Inn in Akron, OH.  It was used from 2002 to 2006.  In August 2007, PFUFA moved back to the Comfort Inn in Dover, OH and has remained there ever since.

During 2003 and 2004, Sue Primeau (Larry Primeau's wife) “Mrs Lope” battled cancer and eventually loss her battle.  In her memory, members of PFUFA created “The Fabulous Football Floozies” to raise money on her behalf.  Though she was not an official member, Sue was very active in the group and was one of the main ‘worker bees’ behind the scene.  The Floozies continued for many years and eventually, it too ran its course.  Many early members still have patches commemorating Sue.  (In the picture at the top of the page, you will see the banner for Sue that was displayed prominently at the 2006 Annual PFUFA Reunion.  Also, Becky McKernan and Joanie DeKoker (Best Bills Fan) [Class of 2003] are dressed as Floozies.)  (Below is an image taken at the 2004 Charity Event at the J. Babe Center.  As you can see the group is thinking of Sue and Larry.)

By 2004, members of PFUFA were becoming household names or had become household names in their own right.  This fact caught the attention of the media, and many articles and video pieces were completed by national and local media including NFL and ESPN networks.  A small film production company in Ohio noticed this as well and began a small film project in late 2004 about our group.  The resulting movie from Bradley D Production was FANatical (Pro Football’s Greatest Fans).

The World Premiere of the movie FANatical took place on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Palace Theater in Canton, OH.  The film documented nine PFUFA members and their love of the game.  Members included in the film were:  Monte Short (Arrowman) [Class of 1999], Jerry Vecchia (True Blue) [Class of 1999], Jeff Pintea (Pantherman) [Class of 1999], Debra Darnell (The Bone Lady) [Class of 2001], Patrick Olsen (Spiking Viking) [Class of 2002], Sheree Pintea (Ms. Purr) [Class of 2003], Tim Young (the Captain) [Class of 2003], Bob Bragalone (Cowboy Bob) [Class of 2003], and Gregory Jenss (Titletown #1 Clown) [Class of 2004].  (Greg is pictured to the left at the Premiere.  We think he was sneaking in Cheese Curds.)

It needs to be noted that this movie featured three Presidents of our organization, one future Vice President, and one future Chairman of the Board of Directors.  The premiere was a great success and the film was release in limited areas.
